Virtual 2020 Words and Wine Celebration!
October 23 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
It’s time for Words and Wine, the signature annual fundraiser for WriterHouse, an organization whose mission is to promote the creation and appreciation of literature and to encourage the development of writers at all levels by providing affordable, secure workspace and meeting space, high quality writing instruction, and literary events for the public.
This year the pandemic forced us to put on our thinking caps and come up with a creative and safe way to hold the event. We gathered a group of WriterHouse instructors, who generously volunteered their time and skill, to participate in a battle of verbal dexterity — a spelling contest! Grab a glass of wine (or beverage of choice) and join us from the comfort of your own home in a rollicking Zoom session MC’d by local comedian Joel Jones. Drawings for prizes will be held throughout the evening. You must be registered and present to win.
Support WriterHouse by “voting” for your favorite contestant. Votes are $20 each and you may vote as many times as you wish. Voting is open now and continues throughout the contest. The winning contestant is the last speller standing. Check out the field and pick your favorite: Words & Wine Contestants.
Once a winning contestant is declared, a Grand Prize of a full-year of FREE WriterHouse classes (regular, semester-long offerings, one class per semester, an $840 value) will be drawn from the pool of people who voted for the winner. More votes mean more chances to win! Sound interesting? Join us on October 23 at 6:30 pm for what promises to be a very entertaining and worthwhile evening. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to register and receive the Zoom link.
Sponsorships are also available for this year’s event. If you’d like to help WriterHouse continue to serve the greater Charlottesville area (and beyond, with our virtual classes!), please consider becoming a sponsor. All sponsorships are fully tax-deductible.
