Instructor: Mirabella Mitchell
$189 Members | $210 Nonmembers
Wednesdays, 9/19/18 – 11/7/18 | 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Prerequisite: Students must have taken at least two poetry classes.
Renowned poet Gregory Orr argues that there are six very different kinds of endings for poems. In this class, we’ll read, explore, and discuss an array of poems ranging from the 16th to 21st centuries, and we’ll use these six diverse “species” of endings as our path into them. However, our topics of conversation will extend far beyond the poems’ final lines. We will also spend significant time workshopping participants’ poems, paying attention to how they might use our “six species of endings” in their own work.
About the Instructor: Mirabella holds an MFA from the University of Virginia and an A.B. from Princeton University. She has served as a professor in UVA’s English department and also has experience serving as a tutor for young writers looking to develop their critical reading and writing skills. Her poems have appeared in A Clean Well-Lighted Place and APIARY.
