Feeling like a one-trick pony in your poems? Looking to get out of your comfort zone to try something new?
In the first installment of this lunchtime seminar series—that uses Dean Young’s The Art of Recklessness: Poetry as Assertive Force and Contradiction as a guiding principle—we will discuss ways to surprise yourself in your writing practice using generative strategies that can act as a springboard for new poems.
Chet’la Sebree, a mid-Atlantic native, was the 2014-2016 Stadler Fellow at Bucknell University’s Stadler Center for Poetry. She is a graduate of American University’s MFA in Creative Writing program and has received fellowships from the MacDowell Colony, Hedgebrook, the Vermont Studio Center, and the International Center for Jefferson Studies. Her work has most recently appeared in Crazyhorse, Gulf Coast, and Poetry International.
