Instructor: Jody Hesler
$95 Members | $105 Nonmembers
Thursdays, 1/17/19 – 3/7/19 | 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM

Through interactive writing and reading exercises, we will explore basic story elements – such as narrative tension, scene, and dialog – with an eye toward how the pieces of story fit together and how we manipulate them to set readers’ expectations in our work. Whether you’re new to thinking about craft, or you want to brush up on what some of the elements are, or you just want a boost in exploring some of them more deeply, this class should suit your needs. Open to writers of fiction and nonfiction. Bring a bag lunch, and let’s talk craft.

About the Instructor: Jody Hobbs Hesler’s fiction, feature articles, essays, and book reviews appear or are forthcoming in Gargoyle, Raleigh Review, Streetlight Magazine, The Georgia Review, [PANK], South 85, Steel Toe Review, Valparaiso Fiction Review, Prime Number, Pearl, A Short Ride: Remembering Barry Hannah (VOX Press), Charlottesville Family Magazine, Charlottesville Wine & Country Living, several prize and themed anthologies, and other places. She holds an MFA in fiction from Lesley University. Learn more about her writing at jodyhobbshesler.com.
