This class will focus on the art of the personal essay and ask: how can we turn our own lives and experiences into art that speaks to the universal? We’ll read and discuss a selection of great literature in the genre by writers such as Joan Didion, Virginia Woolf and James Baldwin and then write personal essays of our own, which we’ll discuss in a workshop setting.
