In this poetry class, we will learn more about the elements that make up the body of a poem through means of reading assignments, class discussion, and lectures. We will spend an equal amount of time in workshop mode, examining our poems with particular attention paid to the body, form, and pattern of the poem.
Kristen Staby Rembold’s most recent book is a chapbook of poetry, Leaf and Tendril, published by Finishing Line Press. She also has published a novel, Felicity, winner of Mid-List Press First Fiction Series Award, and another poetry chapbook, Coming Into This World, published by Hot Pepper Press. Her writing has appeared in many literary journals and periodicals including Southern Poetry Review, Green Mountains Review, Literary Mama, Crab Orchard Review, Appalachia, and New Ohio Review. Her poems have been finalists in the 2015 Erskine J. Poetry Contest at Smartish Pace, in the 2010 Morton Mars Prize at the Southwest Review, and in the 2010 Ron Rash Awards at the Broad River Review. She has twice been a fellow at Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. She holds degrees from Northwestern University and the Warren Wilson MFA Program for Writers.
