Evening Fiction

March 21, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 6:30pm on Tuesday, repeating until May 9, 2017

Instructor: Phil Jason
Cost: $189 Members | $210 Non-members
8 Tuesdays, 3/21/17 – 5/9/17 | 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM

In this class, we will explore the territory outside the rules that we were taught dogmatically back when we first learned how to write, many of which choke the very best voices inside ourselves. Through fun, unusual exercises, students will be challenged to discover the vast realm of possibilities beyond the idea of right and wrong. We’ll also take a look at some successful writers or pieces that exhibit very original voices and produce and workshop pieces that are outside our standard comfort zone. This class will benefit both writers who want to develop unique voices and to those who simply want to sharpen the voices they already have.

Philip Jason was born and raised in NY. He graduated from The University of Pennsylvania with a degree in business he never uses. He mostly writes fiction. He has published stories in a variety of literary magazines including Prairie Schooner, Ninth Letter, Mid American Review and Sou’wester. He has taught classes in both fiction and dream interpretation. Recently, he came to enjoy flossing but remains uninterested in Jazz.
