“Revision involves bringing into alignment with the world of that poem what that poem needs to be.” –Audre Lorde
Each week we will discuss different ways to alter, or revise, our poems: from abstraction to clarity, from metaphor to description. We will also look at different drafts of well-known poems, looking at why particular poets altered or revised a poem. Or didn’t. Poets in the class will also workshop one or two of their own poems during class, receiving verbal and written feedback from me. I also will be available to meet with poets individually.
About the Instructor: John Most earned his PhD in media philosophy from the European Graduate School. His work has appeared in Jacket, Lungfull!, The Continental Review, Coconut, and Big Bridge. He is the author of Persephone, Atelier, and Field.
