Join us for wine, cheese, and lively conversation as we celebrate the artwork of Karyn Gunther Smith. In addition to a studio practice, Karyn paints much of the time on location outdoors, where she is inspired by the changing qualities of light and atmosphere in the landscape, particularly around the sea and the Virginia mountains. Her work has been exhibited in several galleries in the Chesapeake Bay region, Richmond and Charlottesville, Virginia, and Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Karyn grew up in Wilmington, Delaware. She taught art in the Albemarle County School system after earning her bachelor of fine arts at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts, and a master of education at the University of Virginia. Karyn is a resident artist with the McGuffey Art Center. To learn more, check out Karyn’s website.
