“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story within you” –Maya Angelou
Healing is a right that belongs to all of us. Writing is one way to make sense of events that defy comprehension so they don’t have to live inside us. Writing unbinds us and prepares us for action. All you need is a notebook, a pen, and a little time. WriterHouse is collaborating with writing centers across the country to bring forth healing and unity in a time of deep divide through our #TheWrite2Heal campaign—an opportunity to voice thoughts of peace, love, and solidarity in the aftermath of August 12, 2017. As a kick-off for this campaign, we will hold a community write-in at the Jefferson Madison Regional Library on Wednesday 9/27/17 from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM. Bring your notebook, we’ll provide the prompts. Snacks will be provided as well as writing materials for those who need them.
Whether you join us for five minutes or the entire time, let your pen be a force for love and show the world that while we are still wrestling with the violent acts that occurred in Charlottesville on August 11 and 12, our voices are strong and our resilience has not been diminished.
