In this course we will examine the works of various playwrights, from William Shakespeare to Sarah Kane, with the aim of enjoying them and learning what we can about writing for the theatre. The class will be part discussion, part workshop, guided by the main question: What does this writer teach us about the craft of creating stories for the stage?
Robert Wray is a graduate of the Iowa Playwrights Workshop where he was awarded both the Norman Felton Fellowship and the Zeta Phi Eta Memorial Scholarship. A Heideman Award finalist, he has also won the Marc A. Klein Playwriting Award, and has taught writing at the University of Iowa as well as the University of Virginia Writers Workshop.
