Art Opening with Ken Chasin

November 4, 2016 @ 5:30 am - 7:00 pm EDT

Charlottesville watercolor artist Ken Chasin will show his watercolor landscapes and seascapes during our monthly art opening. His paintings are inspired by photographs he’s taken while traveling around the USA.

Ken’s Artist Statement¬†

I have always been fascinated by the art of perspective as well as by the interplay of light and dark in nature and man-made objects.

This fascination with the art of perspective was probably influenced by my graduating from college with a B.S. in Mathematics. In particular, geometry, which is the branch of mathematics concerned with questions of shape, size, relative position of figures, and the properties of space has influenced my choice of subject matter and their rendition.

I take great pleasure in first doing detailed drawings of staircases, arches, church interiors, church exteriors as well as intricate fence designs using graphite pencil and waterproof ink and using the drawings as a basis for my water color paintings.

I consider myself a lifelong student of painting and seek out exceptionally accomplished water color artists who I can emulate such as John Lovett, an Australian artist and Maja Wronska, a Polish professional architect who does exceptional architectural water color paintings.
