Book publishing is a business. You may have the most amazing book in the world, but if it doesn’t appeal to publishers, you may never see it in print. In this seminar, we’ll explore how writers can learn to understand the world of publishing and how and why publishers choose to publish what they do. You’ll have the chance to ask questions of a veteran publisher, so that you can increase your chances of getting your work into print.
| Robert Friedman has been a publisher for more than forty years. In 1974, he founded the Donning Company/Publishers and was president and publisher until 1989. He is the co-founder of Hampton Roads Publishing Company, which began in 1989. Hampton Roads focused on cutting-edge books with a self-help or non-tradional spiritual orientation, publishing over 1000 books in eighteen years, among them, bestseller Conversations with God, by Neale Donald Walsch. Retired from Hampton Roads, Robert currently runs Rainbow Ridge Books, distributed by Square One Publishers. He is also co-author, with Eckhart Tolle, of a children’s book entitled Milton’s Secret: An Adventure of Discovery Through Then, When, and The Power of Now, which will soon be released as a major motion picture with Donald Sutherland and Michelle Rodriguez.
