Daytime Poetry Workshop

May 31, 2016 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, repeating until July 5, 2016

nordforsInstructor: Douglas Nordfors
Cost: $150.00 Members | $165.00 Non-Members
6 Tuesdays, May 31 -July 05, 2016 | 1:00 PM-3:30 PM

Limited to 11 students.

This class will be a “user-friendly” workshop for beginning or experienced poets. Through the examples of their own work, participants will discuss two classic approaches: poems in which style, content, and form (free verse or otherwise) “click into place,” and poems that work upon the reader in a more mysterious way. The class will be free to evolve in any way the writers as a group deem important, and weekly poem assignments will be optional.

Douglas Nordfors earned an MFA in poetry from UVA in 1991. He has published poems in many journals throughout the country, as well as two full collections: Auras (2008) and The Fate Motif (2013).
