Daytime Poetry – Online class

November 22, 2021 @ 1:30 pm - 2:45 pm EDT

Instructor: Erika Howsare
$189 Members | $210 Nonmembers
Mondays and Wednesdays, 10/4/21 – 11/24/21 | 1:30 pm – 2:45 pm

This is a course for students with some experience conceiving and crafting poetic work, though you need not be published. We will refresh our writing practice through new sources of inspiration that help us break our writerly habits. To that end, we’ll explore various poetic prompts and nurture the development of a regular and mindful practice of writing. The course will include supportive discussion of our own works-in-progress, along with poems by published authors. Each student will receive written feedback from the instructor twice during the course.

Erika Howsare is a poet and nonfiction writer whose second book, How Is Travel a Folded Form?, was published in 2018 by Saddle Road Press. She’s also published poetry in numerous journals, plus essays, interviews and reviews in The Rumpus, The Millions, The Los Angeles Review of Books, The Brooklyn Rail, and other outlets. A new chapbook, Several Circles, is coming out this year from Dancing Girl Press. A Pennsylvania native, she earned an MFA from Brown University and has lived in Virginia since 2001. She is a longtime local journalist and often posts photos of the ground at erikahowsare.com.

REGISTRATION IS CLOSED FOR THIS ONGOING CLASS.
