Dungeons & Dragons & Writing: Exploring Character Development (online class)

July 6, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm EDT

Evan Fleischer

Instructor: Evan Fleischer
$150 Members | $165 Nonmembers
Wednesdays, 6/8/22 – 7/13/22 | 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time

Looking for an out-of-the-box way to expand your characters and character-building skills? Dungeons & Dragons is a collective storytelling game played amongst friends with dice telling the players what they can and can’t do. “D & D & Writing” aims to take the structure of Dungeons & Dragons and the act of playing the game itself to enable students to conduct a living, ever-deepening study of character and storytelling structures as characters encounter a collective story in real time. Each student will be responsible for producing 10-20 pages of material over the course of six weeks. Each student will be provided with supplementary videos and text to further the study of character. No prior experience necessary. All are welcome.

Evan Fleischer is a writer, editor, and teacher. He has written for The New Yorker, The New York Times, and numerous other publications. He is currently developing a series of classes for the Virginia Adult Learning Resource Center based on Dungeons & Dragons.

This class has already begun. Prior to the second week, you may still register by emailing programs@writerhouse.org.
