Go On, Get Out There! Getting Your Work Noticed

April 10, 2021 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm EDT

Liza Nash Taylor

Instructor: Liza Nash Taylor
$30 Members | $35 Nonmembers
Saturday, April 10, 10:30 am – 12:00 pm

Here at WriterHouse we’re taught to be better writers, but it’s up to us to get our work out there and learn how to be writers in the world. Liza will share her own experience and methods for finding publishing and submission opportunities that are a fit for your short stories, novel excerpts, creative nonfiction, and poetry. She’ll also discuss creating an author presence through social media; entering contests; applying for workshops, conferences, and fellowships; and other opportunities for writers. Querying literary agents will be discussed, though self-publishing will not be covered.

Applicable to all genres, this seminar will cover researching places to submit, preparing submissions, writing an effective bio and cover letter, and how to keep track of it all. A handout of resources will be included.

Liza Nash Taylor is the author of two recent and forthcoming historical novels from Blackstone Publishing. She is a graduate of the MFA program at Vermont College of Fine Arts and was named a Hawthornden International Fellow for 2018. Her short stories and essays have appeared in Microchondria II (a flash anthology published by the Harvard Bookstore), Bluestem Magazine, Rum Punch Press, The Copperfield Review, Seven Hills Review, Gargoyle Magazine #66, Deep South Magazine and others, and is forthcoming in The Four Elements Anthology of Short Fiction, 1932 Quarterly and Loch Raven Review. One of her short stories won the San Miguel Writer’s Conference Fiction Prize in 2016. Learn more at lizanashtaylor.com.
