Tracking and Submitting Your Poetry and Prose for Publication (online seminar)

July 27 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm EDT

Instructor: Joan Mazza
$60 Members | $65 Nonmembers
Saturday 7/27/24 |1:00 – 4:00 PM

In this online seminar, students will learn the critical steps to the submission process, from finding markets to submit your work to writing a cover letter and bio and tracking submissions and acceptances. We’ll discuss simultaneous submissions, handling rejections, and withdrawing a submission from a market. We’ll also look at different approaches for organizing your writing on your computer, whether it involves setting up a database or Excel spreadsheet, or another method that works for you. The goal of this workshop is to maximize your chances of getting published in the markets where you want to be published. NOTE: The focus of this seminar is helping students interested in learning to submit shorter works such as poems and short fiction and nonfiction to journals, etc.

Joan Mazza is the author of six self-help psychology books, including Dreaming Your Real Self (Penguin/Putnam), and her poetry has appeared in The Comstock Review, Atlanta Review, Prairie Schooner, Adanna Literary Journal, Poet Lore, Slant, and The Nation. She has over 820 poems published, plus articles, essays, short memoir, and short fiction. She lives in rural central Virginia.
