$160 Members | $175 Nonmembers
Tuesdays, 10/11/22 – 11/29/22 | 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. EDT
Our in-class prompts will respond to published stories and essays we read for homework. Prompts may ask students to respond to a particular line of a given story or essay, to mimic a style or voice of the piece, to reimagine a scene or a character, to attempt a craft device that features prominently, etc. We’ll discuss how the published pieces work, as well as where the heartbeat is strongest in the pieces we write in response, preparing us to revise our in-class writing into finished works.
Jody Hobbs Hesler’s fiction, feature articles, essays, and book reviews appear or are forthcoming in Arts & Letters, North American Review’s Open Space online, CRAFT, Grist, Pithead Chapel, Gargoyle, Raleigh Review, Streetlight Magazine, The Georgia Review, [PANK], Valparaiso Fiction Review, Prime Number, A Short Ride: Remembering Barry Hannah, Charlottesville Wine & Country Life, and other publications.
