Hi, could you, please, clarify some info concerning the C’Ville Fiction Contest ? The postmark deadline is June 7th, or May 31st ? And the judge is Anne Beattie or Jill McCorkle ? Thanks ! Sharon Wilson
Hi, Sharon! The judge for this year will be Anne Beattie and the deadline for submission is June 7th. Entries postmarked on or before June 7th will be accepted.
Can you outline the C’Ville distribution area for me?
Fred,
The distribution area includes the following counties: Albemarle, Nelson, Orange, Greene, Louisa, Fluvanna, and Madison.
Dear Writer House,
I’m a member of Writer House and was a resident of Charlottesville until late April, when we moved to Roanoke County. Can I submit an entry to the contest, or will the change of residency render me ineligible?
Dear Jeff,
I’m afraid so, the distribution area of C-ville Weekly requirement only allows for current Central Virginia residents. I do hope that you will submit entries to our future contests that do not have residency requirements.
Are pen names allowed for this? And how long does the magazine hold the rights to the story?
Dear Kelly,
I am awaiting response from C-ville Weekly regarding your inquiry. I will post that information as soon as it becomes available. Thank you for the great questions!
I received word back regarding the use of pen names and the rights to the stories. The writer retains all rights to their stories, but your real name will need to be included with your story.
Dear Readers and Writers,
We have received an entry titled Unapologetic with no contact information included. If this is your story, please contact me with a synopsis of the story and your contact information to finalize your entry. programs@writerhouse.org
Hi, I don’t see Culpeper as part of the acceptance counties, so therefore I cannot submit?
Please let me know.
Thanks, Mimi
Dear Mimi,
Thank you for your question. I will ask our C-Ville Weekly contact regarding their distribution in Culpepper County. It is so close by, it would seem as though it would qualify, but I will find out for you.
Thank you, I’ll await your reply.
I received word back from C-Ville Weekly, sadly Culpepper Country is not in their distribution area.
Thank you, I’ll await your reply.
3000 word limit. Is there some flex there? Would a story with 3060 words be automatically disqualified?
