Submit one original poem to any Jefferson-Madison Regional Library (JMRL) location, WriterHouse*, or via our online entry form for a chance to win prizes and glory. 

  • Entries are due Oct. 16, 2023 by 5 p.m. for poets age 18 and above.
  • The theme this year is The Importance of Community.
  • One 30-line or less poem may be submitted by each contestant.
  • Prizes: $200 Visa gift card for the winner and $100 Visa gift card for the runner-up. 
  • UVA English Professor Debra Nystrom will judge finalists (a panel of judges will review the entries).
