Kirsten holds a degree from University of Virginia in Environmental Sciences and led a seminar series at UVA in research ethics for a number of years, lecturing nationally. She founded the Tupelo Press Teen Writing Center in Charlottesville, in 2013, and has directed a poem a day challenge and fundraiser for Tupelo Press, supporting an international alumni of poets, now in its seventh year. A bookmaker and member of a local letterpress nonprofit with the Virginia Center for the Book, she enjoys exploring the very slow process of making books by hand, and the relationship of the book to its content. Kirsten is an avid photographer and is working on her first novel.
